On August 22, 2009 in a botched robbery occurring around 1:00 am, James Brown died from gunshot wounds sustained in the 1500 block of Montgomery Avenue.

There are two, possibly three suspects in the case who may have a shotgun and a handgun in their possession. They are armed and extremely dangerous.

Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Office Investigators need your help to solve two residential break-ins that occurred in the central portion of the county.

On September 12, 2009 a residence in the 19,000 block of Shippings Road was entered and several long guns and jewelry were taken. Again, four days later on September 16, thieves hit a residence in the 11,000 block of Fisher Drive and stole numerous long guns, a flat screen television and a purse.
Some leads have been developed but your help is needed to get these stolen guns off our streets.

On September 28, at 8:00 p.m., two armed black males entered Try Me Supermarket located at 1614 Halifax Street in Petersburg and stole money. Both wore black hoodies with bandannas over their face. One was described to be 170 to 185 lbs, 5’9”, with black pants and a blue and white bandanna.

The other suspect stood about 5’7” with had a black baseball cap and blue jeans. Both males were in their 20s.

This week Petersburg Dinwiddie Crime Solvers needs your help capturing thieves.

On September 23 at 1:30 a.m. and again at 4:45 a.m., the BP Station at 1932 E. Washington Street in Petersburg was burglarized. Two suspects appear to be black males both in their early 20’s wearing large white tees.

One has a medium complexion with a husky build, dark eyes and low cut hair. The other is dark brown, thin, and wore a red baseball cap with a white emblem. They stole lottery tickets, tobacco and alcohol.

On October 25th at 10:15pm an armed bandit entered the Stop and Go convenience store located in the 5600 block of Boydton Plank Road in the northern area of Dinwiddie County. Armed with a shotgun the robber demanded cash from the cashier and fled the scene on foot. The robber ,who concealed his identity by covering his head, face and hands, is described as a black male 18 to 25 years old, 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 170lbs.

Investigators believe this subject may be responsible for other robberies in the Tri-City area. Help us get this dangerous person off of the street

In November 2007 human skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area off of Route 460 in the central area of Dinwiddie County. The medical examiner determined that the remains were that of a Black or possibly a Black/Caucasian mix male who was approximately 30 years old at the time of his death.

Clothing items located at the scene lead investigators to believe this person may have lived an alternative lifestyle. On the left is a forensic artist’s facial reconstruction from the remains located at the scene.

November 2007 (2009 Update)
This week Crime Solvers needs your help to identify suspects in a series of Petersburg burglaries in Old Towne.
On the evening of Thursday December 3, 2009 police responded to the 200 block of N Sycamore St in reference to a commercial burglary.

The next morning, as other the businesses opened, additional victims emerged.  Further investigation revealed that suspects primarily forced entry on the rear side of about a half dozen businesses. They stole numerous items including a flat screen TV, money and alcohol.

On November 14, 2009 around 11:50 PM Petersburg Police responded to the 1200 block of Courthouse Road where an armed gunman robbed the McDonalds.  The suspect then fled the area with a clear plastic bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was a black male who stood about 6’04 and weighed between 140-150 pounds. He wore gray gloves, dark clothing and a dark ski mask. Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call Crime solvers at 861-1212 or Petersburg Police.

On March 11, 2009 around 10:50 p.m., 22 year old Jemel Chapman became mortally wounded by gunfire as he walked near the intersection of Shore and Harrison Streets. Those responsible may be talking to others about this senseless crime and your tip could help break the case.

On Wednesday January 6, 2010, around 9:00 at night, Petersburg police responded to 911 calls in the 700 block of Kirkham Street. They discovered a victim who had been beaten and shot. It has been determined that the victim, 44 year old David Frenzley, died of a gunshot wound.

Police have been working diligently to develop leads regarding a suspect and a motive.  David Frenzley was a devoted family man with deep roots in the Petersburg area. Help us bring his killer to justice.

This week Crime Solvers needs your help to locate and arrest two men who robbed the Walnut Hill Cleaners in Petersburg.

Around mid morning on January 12, 2010, one masked man entered the business located at 1945 S. Sycamore Street while another masked gunman waited and watched outside the business. The employees left as the gunman took an undisclosed amount of cash. They were last seen getting into an older model gold Lexus parked on Oakland Street. They took off in a southern direction before witnesses lost sight of them. They were described as two black males, around 20 years old, 5’6”, both clad in black.

Walnut Hill Cleaners
On Sunday February 7, shortly after 4:00 a.m., an unknown male broke the front glass and entered the BP Gas Station on 2016 W. Washington Street also known as Fat Boys. While inside the business, the suspect stole cigarettes and lottery tickets. The suspect appears to be a light skinned black male, about 5’2” to 5’6” tall wearing dark pants, a red skull cap, an olive green winter jacket with two toned black sleeves that are light around the elbows. He wore Air Force One sneakers.  He may have facial hair such as a beard. He fled the store on foot heading south on Elm Street.

Missing Person
Law enforcement authorities in Petersburg are seeking the whereabouts of Michael Lesly Green, a 27 year old a black male last seen on the morning of December 19, 2009 at his home in the 1400 block of Baylors Lane.  Green has a medium brown complexion, mustache, and goatee. He stands 6’2”, 220 pounds.

His friends nor family have communicated with Green and it is unusual for him to go this long without making contact.  It is not known if Green has any serious medical conditions or is on medication. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 861-1212.

Crime Solvers needs your help to locate a man of interest in a robbery. On Friday, January 8 around 1:30 p.m. a female employee of the Family Dollar at 2027 S. Crater Road was robbed at gunpoint. The culprit took the deposit bag she carried as she entered her car parked in front of the store. The suspect is described as a black male, medium brown complexion, 6 feet tall, early 20’s, unshaven and thin. He fled in a green car heading north on Crater Road.

Police are seeking the identity of the man in the photo because he may know facts about the armed robbery; however, he is not a suspect at this time.

Since December 2009 several Petersburg neighborhoods in the Walnut Hill and South Crater Road area have been experiencing burglaries. There have been reports of a black male with a dark complexion between 35-40 years old, 5'10, 210 lbs knocking on doors in the Addison Way and Crater Woods apartments. He asked for “Kathy”. This may be a ploy to determine if someone is home. Give police details of suspicious situations, persons or cars because together we can ensure neighborhood safety.

This week Crime Solvers needs your information about a double shooting.

On Friday night March 19 around 10:00 police went to the Hill Terrace Apartments in the 1500 block of Halifax Street because of a shooting into a vehicle.  They encountered two juvenile victims in the car’s back seat. The driver was unharmed. Investigations revealed that three unknown offenders walked up to the vehicle armed with a rifle and discharged multiple rounds before the car pulled off. On Wednesday March 3 around 1:30 in the morning, burglars broke into the ATM machine inside the RaceWay Convenience Store at 2058 County Drive and absconded with an undisclosed amount of cash. In another case on Monday March 22 at the Salem Brothers store at 1908 Boyden Plank Road, criminals entered the rear door under a cloak of darkness and stole money and about two dozen propane tanks.

This week Petersburg Dinwiddie Crime Solvers needs your information about a large quantity of copper stolen from 33 Rawlings Lane in the Western part of Petersburg.

During the early morning and again, late at night on Tuesday, April 13, a subject was seen entering a fenced commercial business. Culprits got away with several hundred pounds of insulated copper wiring from an industrial size spool. One possible description is of a black male wearing all black clothing with white shoes, but there may be more than one person. The thieves may be selling the copper to various scrap metal shops. This is also against the law.

On the evening of Monday, April 26, 2010 someone approached and shot Robert Baker. He was 46 years old.  Robert Baker died in the parking lot on Maria Court in Summit Point apartment complex. Over the years, this complex has been known by several names such as Dunedin and Lee Hall. Help bring closure to Baker’s grieving family for this senseless act of violence.

On September 30, 2009 around noon, police responded to a call for an insecure home in the 2100 block of Anderson Street. Authorities believe that an intruder gained entry and left through a window. Police found several items that were later determined to be the victim’s property. Through forensic evidence, the suspect has been identified as Xavier Jackson, a 21 year old black male, 6’02, 165 pounds with dreadlocks.

This week Petersburg Dinwiddie Crime Solvers needs your information to locate Deondray Maddox, a 24 year old black male who is wanted for armed robbery, abduction, use of a firearm and other related charges.  Deondray Maddox has a dark complexion, is 5’10”, 183 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He wears a mustache.

This all stems from the May 3, 2010 commercial robbery at the Knights Inn Motel located at 622 E. Wythe Street.  Do not approach Maddox as he is considered armed and dangerous. His last known address was at 316 E. Fillmore Street in Petersburg.

This week Petersburg Dinwiddie Crime Solvers needs your information to help solve a robbery. On May 22, 2010 around 2 a.m. a man was robbed at gun point in the 1000 block of Patterson Avenue. The armed suspect approached the victim and attempted to steal his vehicle. When the victim resisted, he was shot in the leg and robbed of a gold chain with an attached Jesus Christ pendant. The suspect was a medium complexion black male, short, late teens or early 20’s with a close hair cut and slight chin hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect fled the scene in a burgundy Honda Accord with tinted windows, the vehicle may be a 90’s model.
